08 29 08. Happy Labor Day. I can't believe summer is almost over . But there is still plenty of time to fly. Still no word on the sun shelter..I was hoping to have it built by now. Kinda disappointing but I haven't given up.
Just a reminder that our fiscal year is coming to an end and dues are due again in October. I will send out notices in October.
I plan on flying Sunday and Monday this weekend more towards the afternoon. Hope to see you out there.
08-05-08 The past weekend was a blast. Saturday and Sunday both had over 5 guys up flying...well OK...most of the time just shootin the bull.
Thanks to Glen Dye and John Collins for the extra donations. We are able to repay (in full) Mike Thurner for the flight tables. Thanks Guys.
Still waiting for the go ahead word for a larger sun shelter. I'll keep you informed...and also call on you for some help building it.
07-23-08 Saturday 07-26-08 I will be at the field all day with some friends from Illinois starting at around 1030am. Come on out and fly
We are trying to get approval for a larger sun shelter. The 12'x8' is rather small and may not be worth the money. We are trying to go 16' or 20'.
07-03-08. Our host, Al Weyker, has given us permission to erect a sunshelter. The only restriction is it can not be larger than 8' x 12' as it would then require permits...town board meetings...blaa blaa blaa. Al has even offered to drill the post holes for us. The cost for the project is estimated at $275 for the wood post, headers, rafters and roofing ect. Steve Tarney, Mike Thurner, and I have all donated $50 each.. So were only about $125 away. Anyone who wants to offer a donation towards this project please give me a call (Brad 262-377-3944) Once I get the money, construction will begin.
We are still looking for any donations towards the cost of the tables. We are $100 short of repaying Mike for the tables.
06-19-08 The NEW Photo Page is here. I put up a few photos of the pit area just so people could see what the field is like.
The Transmitter Holders are installed on the tables now.
Seeking Donations....The cost of the materials for the tables was $200. Mike Thurner donated the time and labor. Brad Schulz and Steve Tarney each thru in $50. We are $100 short...any help is always appreciated. The donations will go directly to Mike, who fronted the cash for the tables.
06-14-08. The Frequency board is up and can be used. I have more clips as needed. I'll probally have a picnic table soon. Sure wish it would stop raining so we could fly.
06-01-08. The Tables Are Here !!! Thanks to Mike Thurner, we now have 2 flight tables to assemble our planes on. These table are the same as the ones used at the Astro Wings (Mike made those) so some of you will know what I'm talking about. Weather was perfect and I even got in a couople of flights but had to leave just as Bob showed up.
05-28-08 Great to run into Steve and Gary out flying Wednesday. Wednesday is Steve's regular flying day for all those looking to find others to fly with.
05-22-08 Its A holiday weekend. I hope to see some guys out flying this weekend. Grass is mowed and ready for you. I hope to be out at least Sat and Sun later in the afternoons. Brad
05-14-08 Weeds are dying nicely. Got in a couple of flights Wednesday night. A little cool out but just a gentle breeze out of the east.
05-08-08 The weeds are dying...I saw absolutely no dandalions tonight. I also got in 3 flights with my 7 year olds first trainer...1 to trim and 2 more with him on the buddy box.
The new sign was put up by the enterance...it's starting to look like a real flying club.
Yea yea yea..I'm still getting to the frequecy board
05-04-08 Parking area is dry but a little soft. Just be carefull after a rainy day.
I did the first grass mowing and spraying for weeds this morning. The field is looking great.
The AMA charter has been renewed. Thanks to Bob Kohler for handeling the paperwork and most importantly the donation of the fees involved.
04-20-08 SPRING IS HERE !!!!! The parking area is wet !!! Please don't drive in yet. I filled in the ruts from the last person who tried to drive in and got stuck. All is good now. I'm thinking it will be dry enough by next weekend. I will make a post on here and let you know about that Friday 04-25-07.
Other news. Our AMA paperwork has been submitted for the 2008 flying season, Thank you Bob Kohler.
Membership: I think were are up to 15. If you haven't done so yet, send me an email so I'll have your email and I will send out a rooster shortly.
I'm working on getting a small frequency board attached to the wind sock pull in the next 2 weeks. I also hope to get the field rolled and fertialized this week.
01-08-08 The membership drive is goinggood. We have almost reached our goal. If you know of anyone looking for an alternative flying field....let them know about us.
11-13-07 Well, we are slowing adding members. My thanks to all those who have committed to get this club up and going.
Grass mowing for the year is just about done. I might get out and do it one last time. I will also be taking down the WINDSOCK for the winter so it doesn't get wrecked. So if anyone goes out and sees that its gone, thats why.
I hope you all have a good holiday season and I can only wait for spring to get here to start flying again.
